What We Know About the Switch 2 So Far
Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 Direct will last one hour, matching the length of the original Switch presentation in 2017. The event will likely delve into the hardware details, including answers to lingering questions, such as the newly revealed “C” button on the right Joy-Con. Though only recently confirmed, it’s still unclear what the “C” stands for, but it’s speculated to be related to social features like “chat” or “community.”
In addition, we’re expecting an official announcement that the Joy-Cons can be used sideways as a mouse, a feature hinted at in animations and supported by patents. Nintendo is also known for surprising its audience with unexpected hardware features, so there may be something unexpected regarding the two USB ports on the console.
Regarding games, the only confirmed title so far is the upcoming Mario Kart, which was briefly shown in the initial January announcement. There are hints that some existing Switch games may receive enhanced versions for the Switch 2, as indicated by references to “Switch 2 software” on a Nintendo website. More details are likely to emerge during the Direct.
